I grew up on Chicago's south side, about two blocks away from Lake Michigan. As a kid in the summer, I was always at the beach near the water, or wanting to be on a boat.

As a young boy growing up on the southeast side of Chicago, a land best know for its steel mills and blue collar roots-sailing first caught my heart while working on my sailing merit badge at Owasippe Scout Camp in Twin Lakes, Michigan.

Mike Thoney

I have been in the boat business for over 30 years, working in both the retail side as a dealer, and on the manufacturing side as a regional sales manager for 2 major manufacturers. I love to sail, and learned sailing on Lake Michigan in Milwaukee, where I grew up.
